WHAT WE DO

DESIGN

At Cantina we take pride in striving to achieve both definitions of design. Whether it is the design of a graphic interface for a feature film, the design of a sequence of shots edited together, or design of physical objects used in a scene - we love the design process and are open to any design problem that needs to be solved.

VFX SUPERVISION

A visual effects supervisor is responsible for achieving the creative aims of the director/or producers through the use of visual effects. While it is a creative role, most supervisors possess a strong technical background and are capable of making informed decisions about the most efficient and effective technique to employ to solve the problem at hand. We understand the importance of this role and are accustomed to serving as the VFX supervisors from pre-production to post.

MATTE PAINTING

A matte painting is a painted representation of a landscape, set or distant location that allows filmmakers to create the illusion of an environment that would otherwise be too expensive or impossible to build or visit.

We find matte painting to be one of the more rewarding and challenging aspects of any visual effects project. A well-executed matte painting has the power to create an incredible memory for the viewer that is hard to match.

COMPOSITING

Compositing is the combining of visual elements from separate sources into single images, often to create the illusion that all those elements are parts of the same scene.

Compositing encompasses a myriad of different techniques and technical challenges. For Cantina, this could mean bluescreen/greenscreen elements integration, composites of graphics content into monitors, CG elements composited into live-action plates, paint fixes, hair/makeup fixes, etc...
